Mumbai: Just a few days after the engagement broke, Smriti Mandhana's Instagram post sparked a new discussion among fans. She wrote, “For me, being calm does not mean being silent, but having control over myself.” This promotional post crossed eight lakh likes within a few hours, and people started linking it to her personal situation.
On December 7, Mandhana issued a short statement, in which she appealed to everyone to respect personal life. The statement came after weeks of uncertainty surrounding their marriage.
Earlier this year, their engagement was much talked about after Palash Muchhal's surprise proposal at DY Patil Stadium. The wedding was to take place on 23 November 2025, but the ceremony had to be stopped due to the deteriorating health of Mandhana's father on the same morning. After some time, Palash also got admitted to the hospital due to stress, and both the families together postponed the marriage indefinitely.
After the confirmation of the breakup, many rumors started spreading on social media. Palash was accused of infidelity, which his family vehemently rejected. Palash also issued a statement saying that he has moved ahead and will take legal action against anyone spreading false news.
After the end of the relationship, Mandhana shared pictures of returning to training and indicated that she is focusing on cricket again. Although her new post was promotional, fans are still linking it to her emotional state.
During this time, Mandhana and many Indian players removed the photos related to the wedding from social media. Jemimah Rodrigues even decided to withdraw from the Women's Big Bash League and stay in India with Mandhana, which was a strong sign of her support.
No new statement has come from both of them till now, but from Mandhana's recent post, it seems that she is trying to control herself and move forward amid difficult times.
